Sailing Adventures

Live-Aboard Sailing Journeys at the World's Best Islands and Coastlines

"Sailing isn’t just another way to get around—it grants you access to places, communities, and experiences that other travelers often miss." -- AFAR magazine

Participatory, experiential travel (hoist a sail!) that allows you to see places from a new perspective while also enjoying the sea!  A sleep-aboard yacht is slow travel without changing hotels or unpacking each day!  Group travel that takes care of the logistics without leading you around or scheduling your meals or activities, allowing you to experience a place more independently.

Wander off from the tour and the crowds!

A 'slow travel' sentiment that is true anywhere:

"If you only have a week or so in Italy my advice is not to try to see too much. Rather settle into one region and savour the nuances and rhythms of life in your chosen corner." -- Andrew Smith, My Italy

The Dalmatian Coast of Croatia

Croatia has now surpassed Greece as the world's most popular sailing area.  With good reason: World Heritage sites; spectacular stone villages; beautiful clean water; and easy sails!  Split, with it's magnificent Roman palace, is a great starting point-- the islands of Brac, Hvar, and Vis are short sails away.  10 days gives us sufficient  time to sail one way to Dubrovnik, adding Korcula and Mljet on the way!

10 days!  June 11 - 20, 2022   $1,575  Sold out!

There are actually more than 1,200 islands, and Split is located in the heart of the Dalmatian coast, with the most famous islands nearby.  We'll sail to Brac, with its tongue beach (Zlatni Rat) extending vertically into the sea; Hvar, with its celebrity status and nightlife;  and Vis with its famous Blue Cave.  Lots of great villages and less crowded beaches to explore.  And of course, 'can't miss' Dubrovnik.  I've sailed here before, and one week was too short to reach Dubrovnik without rushing and missing other great sites.

The aft cabins on the new design Jeanneau Sun Loft 47 have en-suite heads, so the rate is $100 more per person.  One cabin has bunk-bed style single berths for two solo travelers, and a double cabin will be available for one person for $500 off the cabin rate ($2,650)

Amalfi Coast/Bay of Naples!

September 10 - 17, 2022    $1475   one cabin available

The best of Italy in a calm, leisurely sailing area.  By going in September, we get the best weather and warm water while avoiding the worst of the crowds for which the area is equally known! (My first visit here it was difficult to access the beaches far below from the narrow, windy roads, even from a scooter!)  A sailboat gives us greater access to otherwise difficult to reach places.  Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Ischia,
and Procida, Italy's Capital of Culture for 2022!

The yacht: 2022 Jeanneau 54'

As a skipper, I probably get more excited by the yachts than my crews do.  This may be the nicest yacht I've chartered yet!-- a brand new (2022 model) Jeanneau 54 foot yacht, with six cabins.  This yacht is in the top 1% of all charter yachts.  It accommodates 13, but I'll limit it to just the first nine crew members, allowing for two singles to have their own cabins. (For comparison, most charter companies will put 13 on a 45!)  The forward two cabins have attached, semi-private heads.  The rate for these cabins is $100 more p.p.   All other cabins are $1,475 per person, or $2,375 for one.  Two cabins have separated berths ideal for solo travelers sharing (see diagram, below).

General Information

We only charter newer yachts, larger than necessary for the number of crew (8-10).  These are not passive, 'catered to' cruises.  The rates are dependent on active crew members who are willing to help with everything from tossing a mooring line to washing dishes, depending upon one's talents.  You should be comfortable in a small group setting, in good health and fit enough to climb in and out of small rubber dinghies.

The rates are per person, shared.  Most cabins are doubles,
although I choose yachts with split or bunk-bed style berths
to accommodate solo crew members.  Because we take fewer crew than the maximum capacity of the yacht, it is usually possible for someone to have their own cabin for less than the full cabin rate.
Not all cabins are equal, so rates may vary slightly.

What's included:
The rate covers all boating expenses-- there are no "kitties", mooring or port fees, fuel surcharges, or other surprises.  It also includes most (simple) meals and beverages aboard, although we often eat dinner ashore.

Not included:
Transportation to the starting marina.  Any on-shore activities, excursions, tourist taxes, or park fees.
There is a $250 refundable deposit against any damage which may be caused.

You can reserve a place with a $500 deposit, refundable if we are able to fill your spot from the wait list.  Payment in full will be due three months before the sail date.  Payments can be made by PayPal, Venmo, or check:        Edward Laucella
